Mexico Cruises

Mexico has always been a popular vacation destination thanks to the lovely, sunny beaches up and down both coasts, its ancient historical sites, and an overall spirit of fun and excitement that seem to attract visitors to this vast Central American country. Mexico cruises offer the same experiences, but travelers enjoy the convenience of a floating hotel with pristine accommodations, excellent food, and even enough activities to keep your kids busy all day long.

When its time to dock at one of Mexico's port cities, the fun starts all over again. Mexico boasts a number of excellent ports of call that provide travelers with a myriad of possibilities for fun and educational shore excursions.

Most Mexico cruises depart from Southern California, namely San Diego, or Galveston, Texas. Both provide close proximity to Mexico, with San Diego near the Pacific coast and Galveston on the Gulf of Mexico side. Princess, Carnival, and Royal Caribbean offer the largest number of cruises to Mexico.

Throughout the past two decades, the Baja California port city of Cabo San Lucas has become quite a popular vacation destination. Cabo, at the very southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula, is known for two things - fishing and bars. Indeed, fishing is what made Cabo as popular as it is today and most cruise lines offer shore excursions that include deep-sea fishing trips so that avid anglers can catch the marlin and other fish that are plentiful in the waters surrounding this port city. You might also have the opportunity to go whale watching on the waters of Magdalena Bay.

Further south, you might make a stop at pretty Puerto Vallarta, known not only for its excellent beaches but for its adventure activities as well. Take a jungle canopy tour in the Sierra Madre forests, where you'll travel from tree to tree via strong cables, all the while enjoying the local wildlife, both in the treetops and below. Another excursion might include a strenuous hike to a volcanic hot spring, where you can soak in these naturally-warmed waters. If you just want to rest in the sun or enjoy a myriad of watersports, there are plenty of beaches at which to accomplish those tasks.

The other side of the country is also a great destination for adventure travelers and many cruise ships stop at the port city of Cozumel on Mexico's west coast. Those who are eager to explore ancient ruins will be thrilled with Cozumel, which is close to some of the Mayan empire's most magnificent ruins. Take an all-day excursion to Chichen Itza, where you'll view Kukulcan's Pyramid, one of the Mayan's most revered sites. Eco-tourists may want to visit nearby Xel-Ha Eco Park, where they can snuba, sea trek, or just enjoy the sparkling natural lagoon.

Sun, sand, history, and adventure - Mexico offers it all and Mexico cruises are a great way to see everything that this magnificent Central American country has to offer!
